smarteX Malaysia wraps up a stellar debut, paving the way for future-ready spaces

19 Aug 2026

Kuala Lumpur, 19 August 2026. The first edition of smarteX Malaysia concluded on 1 August 2026 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC). Co-located with ARCHIDEX 2026 (the 25th International Architecture, Interior Design & Building Exhibition), exhibitors at smarteX Malaysia presented developments in smart building and facility management. Moreover, the four-day event featured 32 speakers across 29 seminar talks and panel discussions, connecting smart technology suppliers with regional decision-makers, developers, and built environment professionals.

Ms Lucia Wong, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, shared: “Being anchored alongside ARCHIDEX, smarteX Malaysia has lent immense credibility to our launch. Across the show floor, the response has been overwhelmingly positive and confirmed the market’s strong interest in exploring practical solutions that support operational performance, user experience and long-term value creation. By connecting international IoT, building automation, and intelligent infrastructure suppliers with built environment professionals in ASEAN, the show has created a knowledge-exchange ecosystem for business, collaboration and future growth. The conversations held here have been encouraging and will help carry this momentum into future editions.”

Dato’ Vincent Lim, President of C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd (C.I.S Malaysia), added: “With smarteX Malaysia as part of DIGITAL@ARCHIDEX, we are opening a new profile, bringing digital and smart technologies directly into the architectural and built environment sectors. Together with Messe Frankfurt, we are connecting global expertise with regional ambitions, and creating new opportunities for smart technologies to become part of how we design, build and operate the spaces of tomorrow.”

Visitors from around the world got a firsthand look at how smart technologies connect across every stage of building development, from design and deployment to operations and maintenance. The theme “Smart Technology for Life. Work. Space.” was brought to life across the many applications on display spanning various sectors, including: indoor positioning and visualised space tools, smart living technologies for homes and hotels, energy management, temperature control, smart lighting, access management, IoT and wireless solutions, data analytics, sensor modules, building information modelling (BIM), common data environment (CDE), and facility management solutions.

Bringing industry perspectives together
The debut edition was anchored by key partnerships with the DALI Alliance, Wi-Fi Alliance, and International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), bringing international perspectives on smart technology, connectivity and healthier built environments to the platform.

The programme also featured contributions from local and international speakers representing Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), Malaysia Green Building Council (Malaysia GBC), Malaysia PropTech Association and other industry organisations. Through a series of sector-specific sessions, speakers brought diverse commercial and technical perspectives on the role of smart systems across the building development lifecycle.

At the heart of the event were the “Creators of Future Spaces” keynotes, which brought together leading technology providers, real estate and investment giants, built environment experts, and industry stakeholders to exchange perspectives on the role of smart technology in the built environment. The discussions explored how smart technology can move beyond standalone solutions, to contribute to better performance, more responsive environments and longer-term asset value. The inaugural edition highlighted the importance of cross-industry collaboration across technology, design and operations in shaping the future of spaces.

Speakers’ comments
“The collaboration with the fair organisers has brought incredible energy to the show floor, driven in large part by the enthusiasm that visitors and industry leaders bring, while providing us with a fantastic opportunity to showcase our full lineup of digital transformation tools. At its core, smarteX Malaysia is truly one of the prides of Southeast Asia, and I fully expect to see this show grow bigger and bolder with every passing year.”
Mr Paul Drosihn, General Manager, DALI Alliance (United States)

“As wellness real estate transforms into a global phenomenon, I wanted to highlight how property developers must continue to explore this growing sector. The strong international presence across the show floor is a clear sign that the market is expanding to a point where visitors can expect a diverse showcase of international products and services when visiting Kuala Lumpur. This impressive turnout reflects the immense confidence the industry has in this platform, and I have no doubt that next year’s show will be even bigger and better.”
Dato' Sri Dr Vincent Tiew, Executive Director – Branding, Sales & Marketing, KL Wellness City (Malaysia)

“As Southeast Asia continues to adopt green policies, platforms like this will be pivotal in providing energy-efficient solutions to the very questions we are asking today. Likewise, as Wi-Fi networks strive for greater efficiency, innovation must scale to deliver seamless user experiences. There is always room to innovate, and driving those continuous breakthroughs in connectivity is what makes the future so exciting.”
